OCT. Competition Nose Work Thur 6:00 p.m

This class is available to teams invited by the instructor.

Started Oct 17
120 US dollars
East Pleasant Street

Service Description

Teams who are already competing or who are considering competition nose/scent work are invited by the instructor to join this class. In it, dogs learn three more target odors: myrrh, vetiver, and cypress. Each six-week session of classes focuses on different types of searching and the problems presented by the many different venues for Nose/Scent Work competition (NACSW, AKC, UKC, C-WAGS, USCSS, etc.). We work hides buried in water and sand, new and unusual container hides (it’s not just cardboard boxes in competition!), vehicles, interiors and exteriors. Distractions are presented so we can learn our dogs after behavior when they encounter a distraction in the search area versus their after behavior when they encounter their target odors. We challenge our handling skills by using long lines to encourage our dogs to search farther away from us, and oh so much more. Please be sure to review our Policies and Procedures section for more information about what to bring to class, make-up classes, etc.
