Service Description

Appropriate for adolescent and adult dogs (roughly one to two years and up) who have completed their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Proof of Parvo, Distemper, and Rabies vaccinations (or titers) required prior to the start of the first class. Each week of class we learn and practice the 10 different elements that are part of the AKC’s Community Canine (CGCA) test and the 10 elements that are part of AKC Urban CGC (CGCU) test. On the last day of class, teams can test for the CGCA or the CGCU to try to earn their certification and official title. This class will often meet in public, in dog friendly stores and parks to learn and practice these real world skills where the dog will: -walk on a loose leash in a natural situation through a crowd and not pull -walk past distraction dogs present and not pull -sit-stay in small group with at least two other people with dogs -allow a person who is carrying something (backpack, computer bag, etc.) to pet it -exit/enter doorway with no pulling -walk through a crowd on a busy urban sidewalk -cross a street: stop at corner, stand or sit to wait and cross with no pulling -ignore food on the sidewalk -navigate stairs, steps, or elevator under control -down stay for 3 minutes in lobby or outdoor area while owner has a snack -enters and exits car, remains under control during a ride Please be sure to review our Policies and Procedures section for more information about what to bring to class, make-up classes, etc.
