DEC. S.T.A.R. Puppy Kindergarten (Sat.)
S.T.A.R. Puppies: Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility
Service Description
Puppies must be eight to 20 weeks of age with proof of having received at least their first round of Parvo and Distemper vaccinations prior to the start of the first class. This class develops socialization (including off leash play) and confidence in your puppy. You and your pup learn basic behaviors like how to focus, sit, down, recalls (come), stay, place, leave it, impulse control, and loose leash walking. Puppies will be evaluated for the American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate on the last day of class. We specialize in puppies having a positive learning experience and helping pet parents navigate puppyhood with help with potty training, chewing, puppy biting, dealing with excess energy, etc. Many people who have just acquired a puppy don’t realize that they have a very short window of opportunity, only until their adorable ball of fur turns about 16 weeks old or so, to influence the mature personality of the dog that cuddle bum will eventually grow in to. While it’s easy to cope with puppy antics because they are so darn cute (the fact that they sleep a lot helps too!), those antics can easily turn into behavior problems in just a few months. Puppy Kindergarten will teach you how to successfully introduce your puppy to a wide variety of experiences and train her to remain calm when faced with them any time later in life. Please be sure to review our Policies and Procedures section for more information about what to bring to class, make-up classes, etc.
